[09:39] RrkJill: Hi Andrew
[09:44] andrewheer22: HI Jill
[09:48] RrkJill: how's it going?
[09:48] andrewheer22: busy.. and you?
[09:54] RrkJill: the same
[09:54] RrkJill: hey, do you have any interest in two tickets to the Lions Game on Sunday?
[09:54] RrkJill: on MSN
[09:55] andrewheer22: absolutely

I actually had to think about this one.. spending an afternoon booing until my throat is sore as opposed to picking up leaves.. it was an agonizing decision. but I still haven't been to ford field and most likely everyone will leave at half time..

Jilted lover?

so I've been giving it a lot of thought as to who my secondary NHL team should be.. TOR just isn't doing it for me anymore.. its almost like being a lions fan.. I watch center ice every night and I skip over them.. is this bad? I feel like I am cheating on my team.. but I have been really intrigued with watching MON games.. and it hasn't just been this season.. this nasty little secret dates back at least 4 years.. yes, I am coming out.. I think I am a closet Habs fan.. it feels so good to finally let it out.. They are just so much fun to watch.. they are fast, mobile, physical and feisty.. And they provide so much excitement (10-2 in 1 goal games this year). They are an original 6 team, Canadian and they have cooler jerseys than my old Leafs.. Am I a bad person? is it OK to just move on!!? I am so torn.. its the comfortable old shoe vs the $250 pair of Nike Shox.. Maybe I should think about it for a while? I need advice. Dr Phil!!??

My NHL

Kelly went to a scrap booking party so tonight was David Dada hockey night. As Hank Zetterberg put on a dazzling display on the wings 6th goal, David 'parrot' copied Dada's exclamation of "OHHH MY!!!!" to perfection..
Too bad the boy couldn't quite stay up long enough to watch the exciting conclusion of the BOS TOR game (on Center Ice, of which I am STILL receiving my free 1 week preview) in which TOR fought off 3 penalties in the last 3 min and in OT to win in a shoot out...

Monday Night Who?? NFwho!!?? god I love hockey!!

Welcome back NHL

In honor of opening night (of which I will be at, lounging in a suite tonight) a prediction for tonight's DET STL game:

It doesn't take long for the NHL season to get heated up, as Detroit and St. Louis engage in a brawl during pre-game warm-ups. It was all touched off when Brendan Shanahan innocently congratulated Keith Tkachuk on the success of his new Showtime series, "Fat Actress". "I didn't mean anything by it," Shanahan later stated. "I saw Keith on the ice, but darned if he doesn't look just like Kirstie Alley these days."

speaking of jokes

The Chicago White Sox are currently racing towards one of the biggest choke jobs in sports history.. Up 15 1/2 just one month ago, the Choke Sox are now ahead of a surging Cleavland Indians squad by just a game and a half.. Makes one think of one of the greatest choke jobs of the century.. You only have to utter 3 words to make BoSox fans shutter..

huh? what'd you say?

researchers say that the growing popularity of Mp3 players and cell phones are leading to an increase in hearing loss.. yeah.. in the mocking words of a teenager: DUH!! didnt we know that in the 80's? one advantage the youth of today has over my generation: very few heavy metal bands are still in existence.

Back in Black

Did everyone hear the boo-birds after the first series last night? and then after the Rams TD it must have been deafening.. What a great way to introduce the new look offense to the nation (3 f'in field goals).. What an absolute embarrassment!! and people wonder why I'm trying to raise David to be a Packers fan!!

Last game

Time to go to the old ball park for my last lunch time hooky session.. Zito v Maroth.. Lets hope Maroth can keep the ball in the park today (unlike Bonderman last night)
-- OUT

update: bottom 9th, A's 11 - Tigers 1... OUCH. and of course the only run was scored after we left.. I was commenting to a co-worker 'the least they could have done is give Zito a no hitter to make it exciting'.. oh well, off to my exit interview..

Wings Ink Howard

Detroit signs blue-chip netminder to entry level contract..
The Wings signed GT Jimmy Howard to an entry level contract today. Howard comes to the wings from UMaine after appearing in 82 games with an impressive 1.84GAA and pitching a school record 15 shutouts.
This is the future for the wings in net.. Now I just wish they would have let him finish his collegiate career at UMaine and play for another national title.. Instead Jimmy Ho is going to play back up to Joey MacDonald on a bad Grand Rapids Griffins team before MAYBE starting in GR next year..
Another disappointing decision made by Kenny H

Google Talk

A couple days after launching the Google Desktop Search2 in beta (I am using now and its very cool - http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/050822-070418) Google has announced their new IM service called Google Talk.. The announcement was made yesterday and it went live today. Like its sisters, Desktop Search 2 and gmail, Google Talk is currently and will be for the foreseeable future in beta..
2 main upsides: using voice to talk on IM and the use of Jabber technology (which allows GTalk to connect with established IM services like AOL's ICQ and I will assume in the future, Trillian).. I have it downloaded and running here at work.. I am Aheer22. sign up so I can test this bad boy!!

If the NCAA thinks that FSU's relationship with the Seminole Indian tribe is a positive one, they had best look into there decision regarding my beloved chip's!!

OLN and NHL

hockey news:
As far as the OLN Broadcast Team goes, many names are currently getting thrown around. I have heard Bill Clement will be a part of it for certain and that Barry Melrose is a good possibility as well. The
play-by-play positions are being widely speculated on. Mike "Doc" Emrick, who is one of the best people in hockey, looks to be the guy who will cover the Monday Night Games (OLN's Hockey Night in America). For the other OLN games the play-by-play guys are still being determined.

and yet another marketing snafu by the NHL.. "monday night in america'!!?? yeah thats smart.. lets go head to head with americas top rated prime time show (sports or not) Monday Night Football..

WHAT is THAT!!???

to the left you see the new Canadian Olympic jersey made by Nike.. (long pause).. WHAT THE HELL!!??? it looks like dude is wearing his younger brothers jersey.. this is supposed to make players FASTER, COOLER and LIGHTER!!!??? all I can say is "wwhhhaaaaaaaaa, huh"? this is hockey, not flippin cycling. that has got to be the GAYEST look I have ever seen.. the socks aren't much better.. I've seen better designs in the EPL.. seriously.. this is why Nike does not have an NHL contract.. the R&D cost is reported at 6 figures.. hell, give me the six figures and I'll have my 2 year old come up with a better jersey.. reports also say the replica will cost around $100 for fans..
Maybe they made a mistake.. Maybe they delivered the women's team jerseys?

BugMeNot.com

just found this.. this site will give you an alternate login to sites that make you register to view content (ie Miami Herald, or other newspapers and magazines)... try it, you'll like it..

I also just discovered that its works with annoying photo sharing sites that MY FAMILY insists on using instead of the Flikr account I set up for them..
