Not at all an NCAA publicity stunt that the Utes and Chips start their Friday ESPN matches with that nickname news. Purely random timing. The Chips did decently well in their game. Too bad that damn IU punter stopped a kick return TD with that decapitation - to think what the game would have been like if we tied it. Our player did look good on Sportscenter jogging to the endzone with that grin.
Strictly for Andy's enjoyment, because none of you others are fans of the other "football", the US are though to World Cup 06. We took Mexico to school in a huge 2-0 win. Definately worth skipping the CMU game to attend live.
I missed the US game Saturday night.. had a bit of an opening day football hangover + getting ready for season #3 behind the bench of the HVSC U11 Tornadoes.. we lost 4 players to select teams. starting d man, and 2 starting mids. the big suprise was losing our stud GK.. thought he would be back for sure with all his attitude in tow.. first practice is tonight.. out
Good luck. I find it insane that 10-year-olds are recruited for select and premier teams. I guess the future of American soccer have to be found somewhere.
Columbus was a mad house Saturday. I nearly mistook the match for a Mexico home game. At least half of the croud was Mexican. Even for all the hype and the passion, it was somewhat of a friendly. Maybe the Mexicans were rooting for both teams, who knows.
